Competition Rules
The tournament will follow National High School Federation rules apply with the exception of these modified rules: All divisions will play four (8) minute quarters or two (16) minute halves. if a team is trailing by more than 20 points, the Clock will not stop in the fourth quarter or last eight minutes of a sixteen minute half unless the score drops below 20 points. Halftime shall be no longer than 5 minutes. At least a five-minute pre-game warm-up will be given if games are running behind schedule. No games will start before their scheduled time unless agreed to by both coaches. Two Flagrant fouls (2) (fighting, etc.) direct technical fouls during a game on any player, coach, or team representative will result in their disqualification for the rest of the tournament. Tournament Director will make the final decision on any disqualifications. Warm up balls will be provided by each facility and there will be water available at each bench. Pool Play RulesIn any situation where two (2) teams are tied, head-to-head competition between the teams will determine the winner. If more than two (2) teams tie, a point differential tie breaker will be applied. The differentials (the maximum that you can beat a team and still gain an advantage is 15 points) of the teams involved in the tie are totaled. Teams are then ranked according to the sum of the point differential the highest number placing first, etc. If more than two (2) teams are still tied after the application of the formula, the point differentials of the team not involved in the tie are added, and the results are recalculated. The score of all forfeits shall be 15-0. Tie Breaker Formulas
EXAMPLE #1 - To break the tie to determine the placement, first look at the game results of the teams involved in the tie and total the point differentials.
EXAMPLE #2 When teams have the same point
differential total after the first calculation, add the point differentials of
the teams not involved in the tie.
CALCULATED WITH TEAM D:
Roster Rules All Players participate at their present grade level at the time of the tournament. Currently graduated athletes are eligible to play for the purpose of evaluating and recruiting purposes. If a team is challenged by an opposing team, teams are required to have proof of age and/or grade upon request by the Tournament Director. Players can play up in grade level but not down. The age exception will be the same as the AAU standards. No roster additions will be permitted after the team has begun play of its first tournament game. Completed roster and registration fees must be submitted within the time limits noted or the team will be ineligible for play Roster Size
A maximum of fifteen (15) players are allowed on a team throughout the tournament. All players must be on the original roster, players are eligible to play even if they are not at the first game as long as their name in on the original roster. The scorekeepers at each gym will have a copy of all teams original roster.
Uniforms Players jerseys must have numbers on both the front and back. Teams competing in the tournament must have both a light and dark colored jerseys. Teams on the bottom of the tournament bracket will be considered home. In the pool play teams listed on the right will be considered the home team. The home team will wear the light uniform and visitors will wear the dark uniform.
Bench Personnel A team may have on its bench ONLY the eligible players listed on the official roster plus (4) four non-players (who must be listed on the roster: coaches, ball boy, scorekeeper, etc.) Only eligible players may wear uniforms on the bench. Violation of any of the provisions of this rule shall result in the assessment of a two (2) shot technical foul for each violation.
Protests Protests must be made to the scorers table at the time of the infraction and noted on the scorebook. A written protest must be submitted to the Tournament Director within 2 hours after the conclusion of the game being contested. A fee of $100.00 cash (refunded if protest is upheld) must accompany the written protest. The Tournament Director will consult with officials and score table staff (Protest Committee) and will be required to give an answer to the protest within 1 hour. All decisions of the Protest Committee shall be final.
Coach & Player Conduct Each coach participating in this tournament will set an acceptable example for the athletes. The tournament policy is to prohibit any behavior that might be detrimental to any phase of the event or to the athlete(s). The use of vulgarity or profane language is expressly forbidden, as well as the use of alcohol or drugs. Immoral behaviors will not be tolerated. Any individual guilty of violating this policy during the entire program arrival time to departure time will not be welcomed to future events hosted by this organization.
Housing Rules & Courtesy at Host Hotel Please refrain from horseplay, rowdy behavior and running in the hallways and the main lobby area. When going to and from your room late at night, please do not disturb people who may be sleeping. Coaches you are responsible for all of your players and guests actions and will be financially responsible for any damage to property caused by members associated with your team.
Medical
Information The USSSA insurance will be the secondary insurer if another insurance company is involved. If no other insurance company is involved, then the USSSA insurance is the primary insurer. For your protection, as well as the coaches, please document all accidents or injuries and notify the tournament representatives immediately at the site.
Lost
and Found Please turn in all found items to the gym coordinator at each gymnasium. Check with gym coordinators for lost items and can be picked up during regularly scheduled hours.
Game Schedules & Daily
Updates - (Brackets) Tournament brackets and daily results will be posted at the all the gymnasiums. Daily results will also be posted on the internet (www.mauisummerclassic.com). Also any important changes, notices and announcements will also be posted next to the schedules.
Souvenirs Sports apparels will be available at some of the gyms.
Concessions Concessions will be provided at the Civic Center by Hula Hoop Youth Group and there will also be concessions provided by Lahainaluna High School Sports program at the Lahainaluna high school site.
