You’ll witness the Imu ceremony where the main course of the evening, the Kalua Pig is removed from its earthen oven. As the Kalua pig is bing prepared, your host invites you on stage for a hula lesson. No pressure, but it’s a great opportunity to participate in this uniquely Hawaiian activity. Includes a Full Open Bar! By now, the sun has set behind Lanai, and your evening continues as dinner is served – truly a meal fit for royalty! Your buffet consists of Kalua Pig, Kalua Turkey, Poi, Fish, Island Chicken, and other island favorites. As you finish the Maui luau feast, the entertainment begins. You’ll witness different styles of hula dancing from all over Polynesia – Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa, and Hawaii. The music, played by a live band, is a wonderful complement to the artistry of the dancers, whose costumes are intricate and beautiful and inspired by the islands and unique history of this wonderful place. The dances tell a story which your host will narrate.
The most anticipated event of the evening is the Samoan Fire Knife dance which definitely does not disappoint! This demonstration is as good as any other luau where you might have seen a Samoan Fire Knife Dance. But the Royal Lahaina Luau goes a step further with a fire spectacular finale! It is as beautiful as it is dangerous. Unlike other luaus which normally feature only one Fire Knife Dancer, this Maui Luau features multiple fire knife dancers and even flaming poi balls! This grand finale of the Royal Lahaina Luau is a spectacle not to be missed!
Closing Ceremony
Closing Ceremony at the Lahaina Civic Center was a great combination of succulent and plentiful food and native dancing. First in all divisions receives a Signature ball along with beautiful individual tournament T-shirts. Second place teams receives a Team Plaques with individual tournament T-shirts.
The Mayor, the tournament staff and the staff of the Maui Department of Recreation will be on hand to address the participants and to present the awards.
